The music industry can bring uncertain tides, but for Alexandra Burke there’s no waiting around when there’s money to make.
Today it has been announced that the X Factor graduate will be once again slipping on her musical stilettos and stepping into the lead role of Sister Act The Musical.
Details below…
Building on an impressive run in The Bodyguard Musical, the ‘Hallelujah’ belter will take on the role of Delores Van Cartier in the UK tour of the production.
Speaking to West End Frame, the 27 said:
“I’m over the moon to be given the opportunity to play the wonderful Deloris in Sister Act. It’s such an iconic role and a part I’ve always wanted to play.
I love touring the UK and I’m thrilled to be working with this amazing creative team. I can’t wait to get started!”
Producer Craig Revel Horwood said of recruiting Alexandra:
“I am truly thrilled that Alexandra is going to be our leading lady in this all new production of Sister Act at Curve.
Alexandra is such a fantastic singer and actress that I know she is going to be amazing. I couldn’t think of anyone better to play the role of the smart and funny Deloris.” {Source}
Presently on the UK tour of The Bodyguard, Burke’s Sister Act run commences July 30th at the Curve, Leicester.

The fact Alex hasn’t released an album since 2012 re-affirms how unfair the music industry can be. Still, it’s great to see her allowing her career to blossom and bloom in other fields.
More power to her!
I’m so happy that she finally has a “real” job, she better give them Michelle Williams and Fantasia on Broadway
I’m happy for Alexandra as she is still able to sing and also expand her craft in other avenues.
I think Alex’s next album needs to suit her vocals and have more maturity to it, i think that she should now take the Jasmine, Fantasia route and less pop
I heard that she was great in the Bodyguard so i’m hoping that she will do the same in this and then maybe she will get some roles in that states. Although its seems sometimes that she is following in her Beverly Knights footsteps, its good to see two black women making waves in the theatre industry which is lacking in diversity.
