BET’s New Edition biopic has welcomed ‘Empire‘s Bryshere Gray to its cast.
Details on the actor’s next step below…
The entertainer will portray the group member Michael Bivins in the miniseries which also stars the performers Luke James and Elijah Kelley.
Co-produced by the group’s manager Brooke Payne and five of the six original members (sans Whitney Houston‘s ex-husband Bobby Brown), the series is yet to score a premiere date but will make its way to the group’s fans this year.
They shared:
We are ready to retrace our footsteps and show everyone how we got here. For the fans all over the world, this one’s for you.
‘The Hollywood Reporter‘ notes:
Bell, Bivins, DeVoe, Gill and Tresvant formed the group with Brown in the late ’70s. The group set the stage for the boy-band movement of the ’80s with groups like New Kids on the Block, Boyz II Men, Backstreet Boys and more.
Good for him. Empire is declining so he needs to find good roles fast.
I bet he is playing a young bobby brown! Far as Empire I think the show had way too many unnecessary guest and the story lines we overlapping each other and all over the place. Hopefully the can bounce back because it is a good show!
Bobby has been a mess since the start ???. How could he skip that interview ?
Good fit for him.
Good idea to cast him in that.
Good for him
