‘The Real’ faces a fresh batch of trouble this week.

Following Tamar Braxton‘s problematic departure from the series, the actress Tatyana Ali has filed a lawsuit against its creators.

Why?

Find out below…

Ali claims that the show’s producers, Warner Bros, stole the show’s idea from her after telling her that they weren’t interested in it.

In 2012, she pitched a show to the company which would be hosted by five women in a “unique and innovative format, which featured an eclectic group of engaging female celebrity hosts, each aged within their 20’s and 30’s.”

Alas, her idea (undeniably inspired by ABC’s ‘The View‘) was rejected by the company following her pitch.

It wasn’t long, according to her suit, before she learned of their plans to build ‘The Real.’

Yahoo adds:

The lawsuit later states that the program featured “a variety of contemporary discussion topics in a relaxed and informal setting.” The Real premiered six months after Ali pitched the idea to the company when they declined her proposal.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air actress also plans to obtain “all rightful gain, profits, and advantages derived by the Defendants,” and in addition, “designated percentages of the proceeds resulting from past, current and future production and airing of The Real television program.

Because there isn’t any other daytime television show with various women discussing topics and current news. Btw if a show ripped you off why would you come to the show.

From what I remember Tamar is a friend of a friend and what better way to get in with the Braxton’s then to get payback of the production that hurt baby Tamar lol

Umm, okay. But in that case, shouldn’t the creators of The View be suing her?

If she has it copyright she’ll definitely win.

  7. B_Roni July 17, 2016

If this is true then they are wrong for that. They will try to find some way to cover it up, pay her off, or pull some strings to dodge this by tweaking one element of the show.

Um wasn’t she a guest on the show?

  9. TheWarner July 17, 2016

I don’t think she understands that ideas are not copyright or patent protected. However, you do have to be careful with your pitches, and with whom and how you share your ideas.

Pointless as the concept was already a rehash of the View, so she holds no power.

I think her case would be that she went to the tv production company and pitched a show of minortiy women and then less than 12 months they launch an idea so similar to what she said.

Maybe it is a power move for her to fill Tamar’s vacant seat. She would be a good cohost but now she would come off as too much in the vein of Tamera Mowry. Had she left Tatyana would be a stellar replacement.

She’s going to lose this one and look stupid in the process. This idea is far from original and chances are that Warner said no because The Real was already on the table.

There is definitely a coconut between Tatyna and Warner Bros

It’s not like the idea for this ‘View’ type show was exactly a creative concept.
