The film tells the tale of a young African-American boy who struggles to succeed in a homophobic world.
Why? He is gay.
Bullied by his peers and fearing rejection from his family, he finds himself growing into an adult who struggles to remain faithful and find a place in the world in which he can be himself.
Monae, who stars in the release alongside Trevante Rhodes, will join the rest of its cast to celebrate its cinematic unveiling on October 21st.

She is definitely choosing roles of substance just like she does with her music. I like a competent artist that molds their vision with good intent and respectable content.

I’m so pissed off that it’s not coming to either of the two theaters near my school. I just knew that it was gonna have a limited release, since it’s an indie film, but I was in denial and had hope instead. It’s a shame because I really want to see the film without having to stream.
