A new project from Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith is on the way.
Find out what it is below…
Keen to dissolve the barriers placed before actors of colour, the happily married couple have teamed up with the Sundance Institute to support diverse independent artists via the Will & Jada Smith Family Foundation.
Keri Putnam, Executive Director of Sundance Institute, shared:
Sundance is proud to work with storytellers from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences, both at the Festival and in our artist development programs. We are so grateful for the generous support of The Will & Jada Smith Family Foundation. Together, we will build momentum and awareness about the need to create a film and media landscape that reflects the full richness and diversity of our culture.
We are honored and energized to collaborate with Sundance Institute to cultivate stories and storytellers reflective of the world at large, and we view today as the beginning of a productive, purposeful and powerful alignment with an enduring institution.
Their move comes after they spoke out against the movie industry’s meticulous efforts to exclude actors and characters of colour from its more promising offerings.
Fortunately, Jada’s efforts to remedy this has seen the Oscars launch plans to right its wrongs of yesteryear and encourage more platforms to develop and support projects fronted by creatives of colour.

OMG AT THE ARTICLE TITLE
YOU TRIED IT TO INFINITY AND BACKKKK
:’)
The title of this article is EXTREMELY INAPPROPRIATE and makes attempt at pairing Will & Jada’s efforts with a film that was whitewashed by scandal. Be serious…
Scandal and the film being grossly inaccurate. Get it right.
