Deadline reports that ‘The Cher Show’ will be opening at NY’s Neil Simon Theater in Fall 2018.
Produced by Jeffrey Seller (Hamilton) and Flody Suarez (What’s New Pussycat), the spectacle will cover the span of Cher’s six decades in the spotlight.
Billed as a “bio-musical,” the production will be structured as something akin to the diva’s ’70s variety TV shows.
Speaking on the show, the 71-year-old said in a statement:
“My life as a musical on Broadway. It seems crazy, exciting and bizarre – but that’s probably how my life seems to most people.”
The news comes after it was announced that the life of fellow icon Tina Turner is being turned into a musical in London.
Cher and Tina are such good friends. So it makes sense these moves are taking place at teh same time. Their story is beautiful. I love the admiration Cher has always shown for tina.
