Tina Turner‘s life and career remain one of the most fascinating in music history.
Chronicled in the 1993 autobiographical movie ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It,’ new life will be breathed into the narrative – this time in the form of a musical.

Moments ago, the legendary singer announced new West End production ‘Tina: The Musical.’
Set to land at London’s Aldwych Theatre in April 2018, it’ll retell the story of her humble beginnings as Anna Mae Bullock, her rise alongside controversial husband Ike Turner, and her rebirth as the Queen of Rock n’ Roll.
Speaking on the project, the superstar gushed:
“To all my fans. Thank you so much for all of your love and support throughout my career. I know it’s been many years since my farewell concert, and I know this new stage musical will give everyone a fantastic night out! Love, Tina x”
‘Tina’ was penned by American playwright Katori Hall (pictured below) together with Frank Ketelaar and Kees Prins. It’s being directed by Phyllida Lloyd, who’s celebrated for helming ‘Mama Mia’ and ‘The Iron Lady.’
Turner, now 77, is heavily involved and the production is being billed as “in association with Tina Turner.”
She can be seen below working with the soon-to-be-announced cast and posing with Lloyd:
