The media superpower Netflix has stepped up to defend its collaborator Will Smith after Hollywood film critics tore into ‘Bright’, the release they built together.
Full report below…
Netflix CEO Reed Hastings found himself forced to defend Smith as his work with the company continues to ripped apart by critics.
The critics are pretty disconnected from the mass appeal.
His feelings were echoed by the company’s content officer Ted Sarandos.
Critics are an important part of the artistic process but are pretty disconnected from the commercial prospects of a film. If people are watching this movie and loving it, that’s the measurement of success. And if the critics get behind it or don’t, that’s a select group of social media influencers talking to a specific audience.
Do you think ‘Bright’ deserves the heat it’s facing?
I enjoyed it idk what the critics were looking for
I really enjoyed it, them critics need to criticise their damn selves.
I think the critics wanted more, BECAUSE IT WAS JUST THAT GOOD! Okay! Just wait #bright2 coming soon.
That movie was O. K. at best. I liked it, but I think that this video can explain why there was such a disconnect for some people

They’re trying to prevent Netflix from doing business with Will.. if we tear the movie apart maybe they won’t deal with him any longer…,hating
Bright was good. It wasnt great. However, most supernatural movies are shredded by critics.
The critics can suck a fat one! The movie was great, Will Smith was funny and the story was extremely original and fresh. Loved it! The critics are HAters for the traditional movie studios! Netflix changing the game, stop raising my fees though ) :
It was fun to watch and it’s a big step for Netflix, Hopefully we can expect more Netflix produced movies.
