‘Lion King’: Beyonce Joins Disney In Bid To Back African Actors

July 19th 2019 will bring with it Disney‘s second telling of the ‘Lion King‘ story.

Today, news on the moves it has made to inspire diversity and fair representation within Hollywood have emerged from its set.

The original movie saw only three of its characters voiced by African actors despite the fact that its story is set within Africa.

This time around, its producers have teamed up with Beyonce (who is to portray Nala) to rectify that problem by seeking performers of African descent to fill its roles to add an exciting layer of authenticity to the picture.

News of the move comes after fans learned that Beyonce was to pen original songs for its soundtrack alongside Elton John and Hans Zimmer.
