She should have won an Oscar for that role
I agree. I also think the producers are somewhat at fault for submitting the film as a Comedy instead of a Drama. She won best actress in a Comedy that year at the Golden Globes that year for her role in the movie. Also, I want to bring up Lauren Fishbourne. He was nominated as well for an Oscar that year and he should have won too.
She deserved that Oscar. But as usual they gave it to some WHITEBITCH in 1940’s garb. Hollywood sucks

angela basset is far from being the only black actor robbed of Oscar. Oprah is another one of many. Angella doesnt look to have aged much since the 90s… Oprah either. Yet both are in their 60s! This role always impressed me cause Angella played Tina turner better than tina turner herself. Ike deserved his Oscar too ?
