‘Girls Trip’ proved to be the surprise smash few saw coming.
Unleashed last summer, the comedy – starring Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett, Regina Hall, and Tiffany Haddish – delivered big business at the box office. Indeed, made on a $20 million budget, the flick generated a whopping $140 million worldwide – making it one of the most successful releases of last year.
Naturally, anticipation is high for a follow-up – even though it hadn’t yet been announced.
Now, Queen Latifah has cranked up excitement levels by confirming that there will indeed be ‘Girls Trip’ sequel.
Details below…
The reveal came during her visit to Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen to promote he latest season of ‘STAR.’
When a caller quizzed her on the tea we all wanted poured, her royal highness obliged – confirming that the writers deal has been done (meaning the film is being written now) and that the cast deals are actively being hashed out:
Yes, yes, and yes!
Few films have brought the funny in the way ‘Girls Trip’ did, hence we can’t wait for a follow-up.
Hopefully those cast deals (which’ll no doubt be sizeably higher) don’t hold things up for too long.
