2018 was supposed to bring with it the ‘Sister Sister’ reboot the show’ fans had long hoped for.
Alas, plans to revive the show were stifled by fears surrounding Marques Houston‘s sexual abuse allegations, and-as far as Nickelodeon is concerned- scrapped.
The good news? Tia Mowry, one of its stars, now has time to team up with the legendary actress Loretta Devine to star in a new Netflix show!
‘Family Reunion’ will debut in the New Year and tells the story of a wealthy free-spirited couple who move its family from the big city to a small town to find that they much more family than they realised!
Devine is to play it’s matriarch M’Dear and Tia will play one half of the aforementioned couple.
Netflix’s VP of Kids & Family Melissa Cobb shared…
We look forward to bringing families together to enjoy the hilarious and heartwarming stories of this multi-generational American family living together and discovering the importance of connecting with their roots. Meg DeLoatch (the show’s creator) has created a warm, funny and memorable extended family that we believe will resonate with audiences around the world and she has assembled an incredibly talented all-black writers’ room to authentically portray these characters and their journey
I’m so excited to return to television, especially working with Netflix, and I can’t wait for everyone to see Family Reunion. I know my fans are going to love it.
I love Tia! Can’t wait to see this!
