Michelle Williams‘ acting portfolio continues to grow more impressive by the day.
For, fresh from landing a new Broadway gig, the multi-talented star has been tapped to play the legendary Diana Ross in BET‘s hotly anticipated new series ‘American Soul.’

The production, which is being helmed by the team behind ‘The New Edition Story,’ centers on the life of ‘Soul Train’ creator Don Cornelius.
Per Deadline, Williams’ arc as The Supremes star will see her being courted by Cornelius to appear on his new show. She’ll be seen weighing up whether to take up his offer.
Other newly announced names include Gabrielle Dennis (as Tina Turner), Bobby Brown (as Rufus Thomas), and K. Michelle (as Martha Reeves).
As previously reported, Kelly Rowland will portray Gladys Knight.
BET’s ‘American Soul’ premieres with back-to-back episodes on February 5th.
