As VH1’s ‘Love & Hip Hop‘ empire soars on a numbers front, its TV series ‘Basketball Wives’ finds itself skating on dangerously thin ice this season.
Find out why the show’s ratings have reached new lows below…
The demise of the show’s LA franchise saw members of its cast merge with the ladies of its Miami arm to build a new version of the show which is now set in Los Angeles.
Unfortunately, the merger has done little for VH1 on a ratings front thanks to a series of bullying scandals it has faced since it took place.
The first? Rooted in claims that members of the Miami cast bullied and harassed LA native Brandi Maxielle and were to blame for her departure for the series.
The latest? Their treatment of the Nigerian athlete Ogum “OG” Chijindu…a fan favourite.
Past seasons of the show have seen it pick up 1 million viewers an episode but this season, as a result of Tami Roman’s departure as a full-time cast mate and the weekly abuse Ogum is receiving, this season has delivered the worst ratings it has ever seen.
Fuelling its decline?

The third episode of this current season picked up only 700,000 viewers….less than a million (and in some cases 2 million) viewers that tune in to an average episode of ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’.
