Full story below…
A statement trumpeting the news shared that the show was always intended to be a five-season deal and creator Craig Wright is now pressing on with a continuation.
Word is that a spin-off was always a possibility, but it was the intense response to news of ‘Greenleaf’s’ end from the show’s passionate audience that served as the key reason for the extension of the narrative.
Additional details, such as who the series will center on, have not yet been announced.

‘Greenleaf’s’ fifth and final season will premiere on Tuesday, June 23 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
There must be some hidden reason the show us ended other than waning ratings. The show has the best actors on the network, by far. The writing, though sometimes atypical of black culture, exceeds most writing across the network. Despite the ratings, the show was the highest rated show on the OWN network. Why would you abruptly shut down your highest rated show? That’s illogical! Even with the public outcry, they still ended the series. GL was superior to all of the TP series, by far–in writing, acting, cinematography, and quality. Yet, most of those shows are back for another season.
A spin off just won’t do. It was a BAD decision and now they’re trying to backtrack. But we shall see how the Network rebounds.
To end the series with the death of the main character and then for the series to end was not good, especially during this pandemic and time of loss and peril. However, if it is true that the story is based on a prominent religious group and its late leader, then we can understand why Bishop Greenleaf died, as the leader of that particular organization died. It was just a sad ending to an excellent storyline.
I think it should be another season
