GRAMMY Chief Apologizes To Tiffany Haddish After Actress Detailed Pay Dispute

Published: Thursday 10th Dec 2020 by Sam

GRAMMY head Harvey Mason Jr. has issued a public apology to Tiffany Haddish.

Find out why below…

In an interview with Variety, the actress opened up about a unique development in the run-up to the hotly anticipated show.

The comic shared that she was asked to host 2021 GRAMMY premiere show, which is live-streamed, precedes the main ceremony, and features the awards not handed out on the telecast.

However, she says she declined the unpaid gig after it was suggested that she pay for her own way for hair, make-up, and wardrobe.

Now, Mason is speaking up and out so as to do right by Haddish, who he also says he’s spoken to personally.

“It’s just been brought to my attention that the Recording Academy invited Tiffany Haddish to host this year’s Premiere ceremony. Unfortunately and without my knowing, the talent booker working for the Academy told Ms. Haddish that we wouldn’t even cover her costs while she hosted this event for us.

To me that was wrong. I’m frustrated by that decision. It was a lapse in judgment, it was in poor taste, and it was disrespectful to the creative community — I’m part of the creative community and I know what that feels like, and it’s not right,” added Mason, who is a veteran songwriter, producer and musician.

Thankfully, Ms. Haddish was gracious enough to allow me to have a conversation with her. I apologized to her personally, I apologized from the Academy, and I expressed to her my regret and my displeasure about how this went down and how it was handled. And I will say, Tiffany, we are sorry and thank you for allowing me to speak on it.”

Well said!
