As reported, Monique Samuels announced her decision to leave the ‘Real Housewives of Potomac’ following the fiery final part of the season 5 reunion.
The reality star’s stint on the show has been quite the roller-coaster, especially in the wake of her literal clash with castmate Candiace Dillard and exposé of Gizelle Bryant.
Still, she remained a firm favorite with RHOP fans.
Yet, Samuels is making clear that somewhere between the plots, binders, and seismic take-downs, it’s all become too much. Hence, her walking away from the show.
In a new interview with Fox 5, she and husband Chris expand on the decision – which they say is motivated by the need to put their family first.

Echoing earlier sentiments, we’ll miss Monique. She brought a lot to the show and, in some regards, it felt she didn’t get the fairest shot from some of her castmates during her entire stint.
At the same time (and we say this from the viewpoint of actually wanting her back on ‘Potomac’), one has to wonder what the season 6 dynamics would have been with so much division amongst the ladies. Indeed, things had grown so contentious that the show’s core concept (see: a group of friends kiki-ing and navigating light drama) would have felt near impossible given all that’s transpired. And we’ve all seen the brand of insufferable that occurs when such narratives are forced (see: Nene v Kenya).
In any case, we hope this is less a “goodbye” and more of a “see you later.” Because beyond us liking Mo, the true reality of such shows is that the cast always works best when there’s genuine history and genuine dynamics (whether good or bad). So, here’s hoping that’s factored into whoever is lined up to take her place next season.
Pending then, peep Monique’s new video for single ‘Drag Queens’…
