The half-hour show, which is named ‘First Gen,’ is rooted in Orji’s personal experiences growing up as a Nigerian immigrant in America.
Echoing Orji’s expressed reality upon moving to the US, the protagonist finds herself torn between trying to honor her parents and culture while als trying to assimilate to American life.
Orji is serving as executive producer and writer of the project; which will mark her first scripted series writing credit.
