While Nick Cannon dominated news Thursday (February 4) with a number of reports indicating his highly publicized severed relationship with ViacomCBS had been repaired, the news was followed with reports the star tested positive for COVID-19.

In July 2020, Cannon was the brunt of controversy after making remarks many deemed anti-Semitic (click here to read more). The blowback was harsh and included a dissolution of his relationship with media conglomerate ViacomCBS (who quickly distanced themselves from the 40-year-old by yanking his programs off the air).
After a public apology from Nick in the time that followed the incident, ViacomCBS teased a reconciliation – one that was confirmed this week. According to our friends at Variety, the business move was sealed after Cannon not only made amends through apologies but also by partnering with Jewish leaders to learn cultural competence.
“Nick has not only apologized and taken responsibility for his comments, but he has also worked to educate himself and others through engagement with Jewish leaders and on his platforms,” an MTV Entertainment Group spokesperson said. “Those efforts are of the utmost importance and that’s why we have invited him to rejoin our team.”
The rapper-turned-entertainment mogul’s re-established relationship will see ‘Wild ‘N Out’ return to MTV new episodes later this year.

Not long after fans began to celebrate the news, reports surfaced Cannon had been diagnosed with COVID-19.
“Nick Cannon is temporarily being replaced as the Masked Singer host after testing positive for COVID-19, Us Weekly can confirm.
The Drumline actor, 40, will be missing from the first few episodes of season 5 of the reality competition series… confirming Niecy Nash will be filling in as the guest host on the show, which started production earlier that day.”
