The ‘Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’ may have brought the drama on-screen for its debut season, but it’s spilling off the box in a very real way for its central star Jen Shah.
For, she has been arrested and hit with multiple charges of fraud.
Full story below…
Per Variety, Shah’s charges allege that from 2012 until the present, the reality star and her on-screen “assistant” Smith as well as others ran a telemarketing scheme that defrauded older people by selling “lead lists” business opportunities…that didn’t exist.
A Department of Justice press release read:
“Jennifer Shah, who portrays herself as a wealthy and successful businessperson on ‘reality’ television, and Stuart Smith, who is portrayed as Shah’s ‘first assistant,’ allegedly generated and sold ‘lead lists’ of innocent individuals for other members of their scheme to repeatedly scam. In actual reality and as alleged, the so-called business opportunities pushed on the victims by Shah, Smith, and their co-conspirators were just fraudulent schemes, motivated by greed, to steal victims’ money. Now, these defendants face time in prison for their alleged crimes.”
If convicted of the charges, Shah faces up to 30 years in prison.
