‘Abbott Elementary’ star Quinta Brunson was penciled in history books at Monday’s EMMYs (September 12) when she took home the trophy for comedy writing (as we reported here).
However, the sweet historic moment was soured, according to some, when Will Arnett and late nite talk show host Jimmy Kimmel performed a skit that saw the latter lie on the floor for the duration of her acceptance speech (which drew attention away from her as it distracted viewers).
Brunson may have laughed off the incident the night of, but that didn’t stop the brewed backlash on Twitter as many slammed Kimmel for “ruining” the moment.
Already scheduled to be a guest on his show later in the week, Jimmy took the opportunity to publicly apologize to Quinta Wednesday (September 14) and give her the opportunity to say her speech again.
Watch it inside.
“And then people said I stole your moment and maybe I did, and I’m sorry I did do that,” Jimmy said. “Also, the last thing I would ever want to do is upset you because I think so much of you. I think you know that. I hope you know that.”
In her gracious response, Brunson said:
“Jimmy let me just say thank you. It’s very kind of you to say that. Honestly I was in such a moment of having a good time. I won my first Emmy! I was up there like, you know, happy! And I was wrapped up in the moment, just having a good time. I didn’t see any of that ….honestly, I had a good night. It was a good night and a good time.”

I don’t think he stole her moment and she herself didn’t feel that he did. The camera stayed on her and that’s what everyone saw at home. If it had cut back & forth to Jimmy then I would agree with everyone saying he messed up.
Everything you said!
I doubt she is mad or was bothered by white Zaddy.
