Sherri Shepherd’s Daytime Talk Show Renewed for TWO More Seasons

Published: Wednesday 11th Jan 2023 by Sam

Sherri Shepherd made a splash in the daytime talk show sphere with her eponymously titled series, ‘Sherri.’

And such is the ripple wave of excitement around the freshman production that it’s been renewed for further two seasons.

Full story below…

In an announcement made moments ago, it was revealed that Fox Television has picked up the Debmar- Mercury title through to the 2024-2025 TV season.

Signifying an unprecedented commitment to the show – which stands as the #1 new nationally syndicated daytime talker.

In an exclusive interview with That Gape Juice ahead of her show’s premiere, Shepherd expressed how landing ‘Sherri’ was a dream come true.

Though a veteran in the talk space following her lengthy run on The View, it was Shepherd’s stand-in gig covering for Wendy Williams during the former shock jock’s extended period of illness that ultimately led to her showing and proving her gravitas as a titular host.

Debmar-Mercury, who helmed ‘Wendy’, ultimately pulled the plug on the long-running series and set sail on a new journey with Shepherd – whose show airs in what was previously Williams’ spot.

From the outset, the 55-year-old was clear that the ‘Sherri’ show would boast its own unique flavor. And it certainly delivered on that. Indeed, the talker blends Shepherd’s roots in comedy with celebrity news and interviews – all mobilized by the star’s trademark warmth. Guests on season 1 include superstars such as Janet Jackson and Tyler Perry.

Reacting to the news of the renewal, Shepherd said:

“I am so thrilled that Sherri has been renewed for two more years. I launched this show with the mission to give daytime viewers a ‘good time,’ just like my theme song says. I am so appreciative that Fox and Debmar-Mercury have partnered with me to continue bringing more laughter, joy and inspiration to my audience.”

Frank Cicha, EVP of Programming for Fox Television Stations added:

“In success, the hour leading out of AM news can act as a springboard for a station’s entire daytime, and it’s not easy to find the right fit. Sherri’s mix of professionalism and competitive strength has been a great fit for us, so we’re happy to be bringing her program back.”

Debmar-Mercury Co-Presidents Ira Bernstein and Mort Marcus concluded:

“We initially sold Sherri for one year based on our strong belief that this extraordinarily talented host would be successful and her show would become a long-term talk franchise. Our thanks go to our good friends and longtime partners at FOX, who shared in our enthusiasm and have renewed their faith in Sherri with this long-term commitment.”

More power to Sherri!

The “talk” sphere is notoriously tough, so this is a major look on a number of fronts.

maybe now she can get some decent guests? the show is okay but the guests have been very underwhelming, no big names at all.

I agree the guest are underwhelming, however I believe that her guest picks are very intentional, and that they are seeking a very specific demographic of viewer.
There have been numerous times when I see an actor promoting something and they are in NYC promoting on other shows, and think to myself “Why wouldn’t Sherri have them on her show? She has a major national daytime talk show.”
They are not seeking Wendy’s audience. A “major” star to you and I, may be a “complete nobody-never heard of them” to Nancy in Idaho. Everything is done with intention.

Tyra Banks, Method Men,Kandi Burruss, Tyler Perry, Janet Jackson are not big names….this is the problem with this generation sitting there doing nothing but complaining about everthing.
I Think in the first season of Wendy Williams she did not even have those types of stars on her show, who do you want Beyonce, Rihana, Taylor Swift and Dua Lipa….
Chill goooo work than you will understand the reallity of life lazy people

She ain’t no Wendy who I miss dearly and is needed in the talk space but Sheri does a good job in her lane. Congrats to her.

Last talk shows I really liked were Keenan Ivory Wayans and Queen Latifah. They seem like the coolest people. Still happy to see Sherri and Jennifer get a chance though.
