Per THR, the legendary actor is in talks to topline a reboot of the hit film in the lead role of Inspector Clouseau.
Word is that ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ filmmaker Jeff Fowler has been tapped to direct a script helmed by Chris Bremner.
As for the concept, it’s reported that the new incarnation of ‘The Pink Panther’ will be a live-action/CG hybrid and would combine both technologies.
Uniquely, this will be built into the story – with Pink Panther’s live-action crew breaking him out of his animated prison to do a heist job.
Originally released in 1963, ‘The Pink Panther’ has expanded into a full-fledged franchise boasting 11 films. The latest installments, released in 2006 and 2009 respectively, saw Steve Martin star as the famed Inspector and Beyonce in the former.
