Wendy Williams’ Guardian Files LAWSUIT Against Lifetime’s Parent Company Ahead of Documentary

Published: Friday 23rd Feb 2024 by Sam

Wendy Williams rose to prominence by way of covering Hot Topics and now the former shock jock has herself become a fixture in the headlines.

As reported, reps for the 59-year-old host announced that she is battling dementia – ending years of speculation about the star’s health and well-being.

Now, in the wake of the disclosure, a lawsuit has been filed by her legal guardian and it appears to center on the broadcast of Lifetime‘s documentary, ‘Where is Wendy Williams?’

Full story below…

According to TMZ, a woman named Sabrina Morrissey – who claims to be acting in her capacity as temporary guardian of W.W.H. (Wendy Williams Hunter) – fired off a lawsuit against A&E Television Networks, Lifetime’s parent company.

The details of the suit are sealed.

However, per the report, both the timing of the filing and the fact that Morrissey is seeking a temporary restraining order – indicate that it may be an expedited legal maneuver to block the broadcast of the two-part doc.

It’s presently due to premiere tomorrow (February 24).

Williams’ condition and the TV special spotlighting her issues are complicated terrain for all parties involved.

During the press run for the doc, the star’s family say they became involved at the point when the project (which was helmed by the media maven’s then-team) was initially being shot as chronicling Williams’ comeback. Yet, it quickly became apparent to them that her situation was dire.

After several months of filming, production was shut down, Williams’ finances frozen, and court hearings were had to appoint a guardian to preside over her health and business affairs. The latter being legal moves made to prevent financial exploitation of those with health issues.

Williams’ family says they have not seen her since nor do not know where she currently is. Furthermore, they claim that there has only been very limited phone communication with her.

Across a range of interviews this week, the family has touted the publicizing of the documentary, in its current guise, as being a means of spotlighting the heartache they are going through trying to be there for their loved one. It’s also being released, they say, to seek an answer to the titular question: “Where is Wendy Williams?”

With the dementia disclosure and now the lawsuit, it’s clear that there are divisions within the various camps in Williams’ life.

Above all, we wish her the best.
