To the surprise of Marvel fans, Angela Bassett wasn’t the only big name that passed up the chance to play “Ororo Munroe” (better known as “Storm”) in the 2000 live action ‘X-Men’ film.
During the surprise media blitz Janet Jackson recently embarked on to announce new music and plans to extend her hotly selling ‘Together Again World Tour,’ the Pop Queen dropped the royal shocker on ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’ that she was offered the role of the omega level mutant ahead of Academy Award-winning actress Halle Berry.

When quizzed by resident co-host Ross Mathews about the rumor she was supposed to be in ‘The Matrix’ film franchise, Janet offered the correction it was actually ‘X-Men.’
“But I couldn’t [accept the part],” Jackson recalled. “I was just embarking on the ‘Janet’ tour.”
And while she was rudely interrupted by Barrymore when discussing if she regrets passing on the role, the Pop diva did indicate she wants to act more in the future.
“I would for sure,” she shared when asked if she would do another movie.
In the immediate future, however, the icon is focused on the extended ‘Together Again Tour’ – which will begin its next leg in June.
