As two of the most powerful women in journalism and media, gal pals Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King have shined spotlights on some of modern history’s most renowned figures over their respective careers.
The positioning hasn’t rendered them exempt from the same scrutiny, however.
For years the besties have fielded rumors that their relationship skewed more romantic than they’d publicly let on, an ongoing murmur they addressed head-on in an interview with Melinda French Gates aboard her new YouTube series ‘Moments That Make Us.’

As special guests on the episode uploaded on Wednesday (July 24), Oprah and Gayle dished on everything from their illustrious careers to navigating fame with their personal lives and more.
They also used the moment to once again take rumors about their sexual orientations.
“You know, for years, people used to say we were gay, and listen, we were up against that forever,” O, 70, shared. “And people still may think it.”
Gayle, 69, jokingly chimed in.
“I used to say Oprah, ‘You gotta do a show on this, because it’s hard enough for me to get a date on Saturday night with people thinking we’re gay,’” King quipped. “Because if we were gay, we’d tell you!”
