Famed for voicing iconic characters such as Darth Vadar in ‘Star Wars’ and Mufasa in ‘The Lion King,’ Jones enjoyed a prolific career on screen and on stage.
One of few EGOT winners, the beloved star was nominated for a Lead Actor Oscar for his role in ‘The Great White Hope’ (1971) and was presented with an honorary Oscar in 2012.
Nominated for 8 Emmys in total, his two wins both came in 1991. He won Lead Actor in a Drama Series for ‘Gabriel’s Fire’ and Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or a Special for ‘Heat Wave.’
Jones also won a spoken-word Grammy Award in 1977 and three Tony Awards.
