Janelle Monáe is taking on a bold new role as both star and producer of the upcoming Universal Pictures’ adaption of a gripping book.

The film is based on Tanya Smith’s jaw-dropping heist memoir ‘Never Saw Me Coming: How I Outsmarted the FBI and the Entire Banking System – and Pocketed $40 Million’.
It follows her journey as an unsuspecting woman who masterminds a white-collar scheme to manipulate the U.S. banking system out of millions.
Monáe leads as Smith and she will also be wearing her producer hat through her company Wondaland Pictures. Smith herself will also executive produce on the project.
The multihyphenate is no stranger to the big screen. Indeed, her impressive acting credits include ‘Moonlight’, ‘Hidden Figures’ and ‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’.
With her musical success and excellent commitment to storytelling ‘Never Saw Me Coming’ is poised to be one to watch.
