'Tiana' Animated Series Canceled

Another one bites the dust. Disney just canceled the long-awaited ‘Princess and the Frog’ spinoff series ‘Tiana.’

Full story below…

‘Tiana’ was the follow-up to ‘Princess and the Frog’ with Anika Noni Rose returning as Tiana.

The reason for the animated series’ cancelation is due to Disney Animation‘s decision to pivot away from producing original long-form content for Disney+.

While we won’t be getting the series, we’ll still be seeing Princess Tiana sometime soon. Disney is currently developing a short form special inspired by the film with Joyce Sherri still a part as director and writer.

Announced back in 2020, Tiana was set to pick up after the events of the 2009 film. Following the newly crowned Princess of Maldonia as she embarked on a fresh adventure while staying true to her New Orleans roots.

The series was initially scheduled for a 2023 release before being pushed to 2024 until recently.

With that, what are…

They didn’t give a damn about this series low-key which is why there was always little to no information about it’s production crew, voice actors, illustrators, etc. They announced this series around the time of the riots and George Floyd and then once everything settled down in the world, they decided to push back it’s release date multiple times and now this. Smh, I’m not surprised by this announcement.
