Laverne Cox is at the center of a blazing backlash after revealing that she dated a “MAGA republican voter” just days after criticizing Kamala Harris‘ failed presidential campaign.
Politics, of course, comes down to personal choice. However, many in the LGBTQ community online have hit out at Cox, given the anti-trans rhetoric uttered by many MAGA supporters, as well as what others have deemed anti-trans legislation President Donald Trump has spearheaded.

Cox, who has been hailed as a figurehead of trans advocacy, took to Instagram to promote her one-woman show and teased that much of the material will center on her unlikely relationship with a MAGA police officer several years her junior.
Smiling coyly, she quipped:
“My ex-boyfriend, when we met five years ago, at the height of the pandemic, he was 26 and I was 48. He was a blonde-haired, blue-eyed MAGA republican voter who is a New York City police officer.”
Despite their unique predicament, she says they did not allow their politics to intertwine.
