With more than 80 million records sold and over $3.1 billion generated the movie box offices for her brigade of hit films over the last 30 years, Jennifer Lopez owns an entertainment-wide stat sheet that few can rival.
Yet, despite boasting dominating success over television, film, and music, her award mantel has yet to reflect her impact as she’s never snagged any of the industry’s top honors: EMMYs, Academy Awards (OSCARs), or GRAMMYs.
What’s more, even her list of nominations at the aforementioned ceremonies seems incongruent with the critical or commercial acclaim that’s been imparted to many of her top-selling projects.
Obviously not lost on the performer herself, Lopez recently detailed her feelings about being one of entertainment’s biggest stars ever while lacking the industry recognition.

During her visit to ‘The Howard Stern Show,’ Lopez – hot on the promo trail for her latest film ‘Kiss of the Spider-Woman‘ – dished on her career-at-large including her humble beginnings as a ‘Fly Girl’ on the 90’s sketch comedy series ‘In Living Color‘ to dancing background for Janet Jackson.
In the time since the latter, J.Lo has become one of the entertainment industry’s leading female forces despite not having the awards on her mantel to underscore that success.
“I’ve been nominated for a bunch of different type of awards [over the years],” she started before Stern ran down the official list of nods she’s received over her career. “It doesn’t irk [me that I haven’t won any awards yet]; you’re very excited when you get nominated for something. And you want to win, of course, everybody wants to win. But, at the end of the day you realize it doesn’t really matter.”
Later in the chat, Lopez reflected on feeling deflated after having a speech ready at the 2020 Golden Globes where she ultimately lost despite her buzzworthy performance in 2019’s ‘Hustlers.’
Years later, the 56-year-old opts to look at the glass half-full.
“You are still in the conversation of the best people in the world doing what they do, and that’s f-cking amazing,” she shared with Stern.
Like Howard, critics are calling for Lopez to be nominated for industry awards for her stunning performance in ‘Kiss of the Spider-Woman.’
After decades of hard work, the elusive trophies could finally be hers next year.

She got some Iconic singles and video clips but it’s from the best eras of Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Beyonce/DC, Mariah Carey and Madonna etc. she had a very hard competition, even Mariah didn’t get a lot of awards because of that.
And JLo doesn’t have good albums, with her it’s more about the singles, mostly from the early 2000s.
But she’s still an Icon even if she’s not a vocalist, she’s a pop singer.
100% realist comment and critique of her career. Spot on!
Always babe
She definitely deserve to be awarded for her acting. I think she’s a bigger actress than singer
Jlo was just popular. She fit the mold of a certain aesthetic and was rewarded for how she looked by booking good tv and movie roles that she wasn’t really qualified for. Same with her music. Her entire career was made possible because of pretty privilege, not actual talent. In comparison to the other artists that were out when she was popular, she doesn’t deserve any of those awards and rightfully wasn’t awarded any. She should consider herself very lucky and should be extremely happy with what she’s been able to accomplish.
She’s not as good as she thinks she is. There are far far better actresses and performances than hers. Plus she is a very nasty person.
