Moments ago, it was confirmed that the actress died at her home at the age of 71 following a brief illness.
Famed for a wide range of roles, one of her most notable is unquestionably her tenure in ‘Home Alone’ and ‘Home Alone 2: Lost in New York’ as Kate McCallister, mother of Macaulay Culkin’s Kevin McCallister.
The pair reunited in December 2023, when Culkin received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. O’Hara joined the festivities by giving an impassioned speech in salute.
Taking to Instagram, the 45-year-old actor paid an emotional tribute, writing:
“Mama. I thought we had time. I wanted more. I wanted to sit in a chair next to you. I heard you but I had so much more to say. I love you. I’ll see you later.”
May she rest in peace.

How sad I grew up watching that movie alot
I am really saddened by this. The world needed her light—especially now. I am so glad she was recognized for her talent in the last ten years and that her brilliant performance as Moira Rose brought her to a new generation.
