Whoopi Goldberg is on course to bag a salary of $3.5 million should she hold onto her role as a moderator on the successful TV series ‘The View‘.

$1.5 million higher than the $2 million she received last season, the amount- if coughed up by ABC– would see her retain her position after she announced that she was to part ways with the show at the end of its current season.

Seems straight forward? Well…it isn’t. For, Goldberg’s request also comes with a number of conditions.

Sources close to the show reveal:

She wants this one ABC executive off the show. She blames this person for trying to turn The View into Good Morning America with the rotating hosts and contributors and doesn’t want that exec involved in the show any more.

She is tired of having to answer to people that she doesn’t feel like are worthy of their positions.

So she wants to be an executive producer of the show so that she has a seat at the decision-making table and can have more control over the things going on.

She’s asking for no less than $3.5 million a year to return. She feels that she helped this show turn the corner again in the ratings and knows she plays a huge factor in its success.

She wants them to pay her what she thinks she’s worth, despite the fact the network is crying budget concerns.

Goldberg is credited with retaining the show’s viewership following a confusing casting period which saw her forced to watch nine different co-hosts come and go since Barbara Walters‘ departure in 2014.

The source adds:

Now that the core five have good chemistry and the ratings are going back up, Whoopi has been less grumpy.

‘She keeps telling the producers behind the scene: “See, this could work if they don’t start f***ing with us again!

Terry Crews has a question.

Why is it considered perfectly fine to be transgender, but deemed totally unacceptable to be TRANSRACIAL?

Posed on Instagram hours ago, the question sparked a debate on the true meaning of self-identification on social media as society still struggles to understand the world view of Rachel Dolezal, the Caucasian woman who believes that she is Black.

Why is it considered perfectly fine to be transgender, but deemed totally unacceptable to be TRANSRACIAL?

We’ve all seen them.

Sticking out like glittered thumbs on the social media pages of influencers are posts touting ‘Flat Tummy Tea’, a product which promises to offer its patrons a flatter and fitter gut within days.

Alas, it appears that the fun may be over for stars who push the highly recommended product and products like it to their fans in exchange for easy cash.

Don’t let that smile fool you, bloat. Our girl @biabrasileiro1 is about to take you down. #watchout #backtoflat

Why?

The Federal Trade Commission, which seeks to “eliminate and prevent anticompetitive business practices”, feels consumers are being fooled into purchasing products recommended to them by cash-hungry stars with large social media followings.

In response to the supposed bamboozlement, it penned letters to 90 influencers which “advises” them to disclose the compensation they receive in exchange for pushing products.

A portion of the letter reads:

Many consumers will not understand a disclosure like “#sp,” “Thanks [Brand],” or “#partner” in an Instagram post to mean that the post is sponsored.

Consumers should be able to notice the disclosure easily, and not have to look for it. For example, consumers viewing posts in their Instagram streams on mobile devices typically see only the first three lines of a longer post unless they click ‘more,’ and many consumers may not click ‘more.’ Therefore, you should disclose any material connection above the ‘more’ button.

The Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood, which fears young children are put at risk by careless and cunning commercials, issued this statement in response to the FTC’s letter.

We’re glad the FTC is encouraging influencer’s on Instagram to be more forthright, but we hope they expand that
initiative to include YouTube and other social media, which reach millions of children and we hope the FTC will take strong action against any influences who refuse to comply with the rules.

As the ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta‘s fun loving leading lady, Porsha Williams has amassed a following which often keeps a close on the platforms she uses to communicate with it.

What they discovered today? That she is no longer following her former friend NeNe Leakes after the ‘Fashion Police‘ player tore into her during a recent appearance on ‘Watch What Happens Live’.

Leakes’ poorly-received appearance on the show saw her slammed on social media for taking aim at Williams and, if the latter’s Instagram account is anything to go by, lose a friend.

Leakes’, whose success at home and away from the ‘Housewives’ turned her into a household name, still follows Williams.

Do you think NeNe was wrong for bashing Porsha?

In numerology, seven is said to signal perfection and for Fifth Harmony star Normani Kordei that proved true last night.

Last night was week 7 of the current season of ‘Dancing With The Stars’ and saw the starlet earn 10s across the board for her take on the Argentine Tango.

In scoring full marks, Kordei and partner Val Chmerkovskiy won immunity for this week’s elimination and edge closer to the semi-final.

Deservingly.

Check out the show-stopping performance below…

Though initially skeptical about Normani’s participation in the show, she’s showing and proving. Crucially, she’s also growing in popularity each week. Thus upping her profile and that of her band in the process.

In some ways, it’s creating the right storm of momentum for 5H’s return.

A single come the climax of the show would be right on time.

Remember the new Prince EP we told you about‘Deliverance’? Well, it appears it won’t be hitting retail anytime soon and the reason has many side-eyeing.

Why? Because a reality show about the fiercely private star is in the works.

According to TMZ, the late legend’s Estate were successful in pulling every legal string possible to block the release of ‘Deliverance.’

At the time, the belief was that the set – recorded in 2004 while the Purple One was an indie act in between contracts – somehow conflicted with the high-profile deals inked to release his music posthumously. Hence, why his team went guns blazing at the man behind the EP, George Ian Boxill.

However, it’s now being reported that Prince’s team do have plans for the music – but want its release to coincide with a new reality show centered around Prince’s family.

Though in early stage of development, it’s being said that a production company is on-board for the as-yet-unnamed show. It’ll allegedly chronicle how they’re dealing with the aftermath of his death.

************

Eww.

As seen with similar shows about Whitney Houston and the like, this very rarely ends well and absolutely sounds like milking the cow.

Surely, there’s enough buzz around Prince, his vaulted material, and legacy to sell new product via more premium mediums? The handling of Michael Jackson posthumous career has proven that success can be extended by well calculated moves.

Above all, there’s approximately zero need to thrust folk into the spotlight that we didn’t (care to) know while Prince was alive.

Just no.

Your thoughts?

If NeNe Leakes is to return to ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’ she may have to readjust her attitude towards its new fun loving star Porsha Williams.

For, today has seen the Reality TV royal blasted by fans after she tore into Williams during an appearance on ‘Watch What Happens Live’.

Why they’re annoyed with her?

Her supposed habit of bashing, bullying and berating one half of the show’s cast when she reconciles with other half.

As the show’s ratings have fared well without Leakes, several fans believe that she may be threatened by Williams’ undeniable rise to the top of the show’s pecking order on a popularity front.

Here’s hoping the usually endearing Leakes returns to the series packing more humour than hate when it returns for a tenth season this November.

Season 9 of ‘The Real Housewives Of Atlanta’ has reached its climax, but the fireworks continue during its historic four-part reunion.

Following the explosive third installment, the final part promises more, more, and well…more.

The gathering sees Kandi‘s feud with Porsha and Phaedra reach boiling point, while Kenya comes under scrutiny for her suspect relationships. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

The hacker who threatened to leak episodes from ‘Orange is the New Black’s new season has fulfilled his “promise” by doing just that.

Netflix learned that a hacker named The Dark Overlord had gained access to its systems and pulled ‘Orange’s latest season from them.

His or her mission? To force the company to cough up cash in exchange for the episodes they had stolen. Alas, “negotiations” either fell through or didn’t happen at all prompting the hacker to upload his stolen goods online.

The industry is now on high alert as the character has now threatened to leak even more shows in the coming weeks.

Your thoughts?

There may be trouble ahead for the revolutionary service Netflix if it doesn’t agree to demands set by a hacker who claims to have stolen the latest season of ‘Orange is the new Black‘!

Operating under the name The Dark Overlord, the hacker has asked for an unspecified amount from the company and has already uploaded the first episode of ‘Orange’s new season on an illegal file-sharing site.

The Hollywood Reporter adds:

Netflix said that a small production vendor that works with several major TV studios had suffered a breach. The Los Gatos, Calif., company described it as an “active situation” that’s being investigated by the FBI and other authorities.

In the ransom note, The Dark Overlord claimed to have stolen series from other studios, too, by breaking into a single company. The purported hacker promised to also release those titles unless “modest” ransoms are paid.

When the AP contacted The Dark Overlord in February, the hacker said the purloined video wouldn’t be made publicly available after all, making the far-fetched claim that “no one really [cares] about unreleased movies and TV show episodes.”

Why Netflix and ‘Orange’?

‘Orange’ is a Netflix original series and can only be viewed by TV lovers who pay to subscribe to the show and service. If placed online, Netflix’s profit-pushing unique selling point comes under threat.
