The Democratic National Convention welcomed the First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama to its shores yesterday.

It was there, as she prepares to part ways with the White House, she delivered a rousing speech which saw her address her support for Hillary Clinton, the pressures of raising her daughters under the pressure of politics and the importance of African-Americans to the political system.

Michael Jordan has a released a statement condemning the treatment of African-American citizens in the United States by the legal system.

Published in response to the murders of Philando Castile and Alton Sterling, the former athlete’s statement came armed with a donation of $2 million made to civil rights organisations.

The problem?

His altruism seems to have been ignited after he learned of plans that were being made to boycott his products.

On this day DC Comics will unleash the action-heavy beast that is ‘Suicide Squad.’

Fronted by Viola Davis, Jared Leto and Will Smith, the movie tells the story of a group of super villains who are assembled to complete a deadly mission.

Sound intriguing?

It is!

So, keen to give fans good reason to support the project, Davis, Smith and their comical gang made their way to Comic Con to share exciting new details about the epic release.

Marvel‘s ‘Black Panther’ movie may be set for a 2018 release, but excitement is still at fever pitch.

Said buzz cranked up a notch last night at Comic-Con 2016 in San Diego.

Why?

It’s the first time the cast for the hotly anticipated flick assembled.

Posing with director Ryan Coogler were Chadwick Boseman, Lupita Nyong’o, Michael B. Jordan, and latest addition Danai Gurira.

After much ado, VH1 drew the curtain back on the panel of their revamped version of ‘America’s Next Top Model.’

Led by Rita Ora (who replaces Tyra Banks as host), the judges joining the singing entrepreneur are supermodel and body activist Ashley Graham, Paper Magazine C.O.O Drew Elliott and celebrity stylist/ image architect Law Roach.

Now, a day after the announcement, a series of snaps of the cast at work have been released.

Welcome to Retro Rewind, the TGJ original feature carved out to celebrate TV and Film’s game-changing past.

Today, we make our way back to 1997, the year in which the world was first introduced to the TV series ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer.’

Named after the widely panned movie of the same name, ‘Buffy’ tells the tale of a sixteen-year old Valley girl chosen by fate to slay the forces of darkness and the evil that can be high school.

The layered character was portrayed by ‘All My Children‘s Sarah Michelle Gellar who led the series to groundbreaking territory alongside its creator Joss Whedon (‘The Avengers’) on a ratings and critical front.

How so?

One academic study of the hit show came to the following conclusion:

In the world of Buffy the problems that teenagers face become literal monsters. A mother can take over her daughter’s life (“Witch”); a strict stepfather-to-be really is a heartless machine (“Ted”); a young lesbian fears that her nature is demonic (“Goodbye Iowa” and “Family”); a girl who has sex with even the nicest-seeming guy may discover that he afterwards becomes a monster (“Innocence”).

It’s official. Rita Ora will serve as host for VH1‘s revival of ‘America’s Next Top Model.’

The rumor mill had been all sorts of active in the week’s preceding today’s announcement. Yet, moments ago, not only did the network confirm Ora’s involvement they also revealed who’ll be joining her.
