After bidding adieu to ‘Hercules: The Legend Begins‘ and taking on the new title of ‘The Legend of Hercules’, Renny Harlin’s forthcoming flick telling the tale of the Greek hero has birthed a brand new trailer today!
Hitting theatres on January 10th, the movie will arrive courtesy of Summit Entertainment and stars Kellan Lutz, Gaia Weiss and Liam McIntyre– formerly of Starz’ hit series ‘Spartacus.’
Things have certainly been looking up for former Destiny’s Child starlet Latavia Roberson. After kicking the year off with news of a reality show and book, now reports have surfaced indicating the songstress is the latest addition to TV One’s top-rated ‘R&B Divas: Atlanta’.
Joining fellow newcomer Meelah of 702, Roberson will fill out the season 3 cast of the show alongside Syleena Johnson, Keke Wyatt, Monifah, and Angie Stone. But, two faces fans shouldn’t expect to see aboard the next season are those of Nicci Gilbert‘s and Xscape singer Latocha Scott.
“…[Gilbert’s] not totally done with “R&B Divas.” She pointed out, “I’m still getting a check as a producer, so please, tune into R&B Divas!”
According to TheJasmineBrand.com, Nicci is working on a spin-off for next year!”

The news follows reports that both editions of ‘R&B Divas’ (Atlanta and Los Angeles) have been renewed for new episodes.
The past weekend saw the opening of ‘The Best Man Holiday’ (Taye Diggs, Morris Chestnut) – the long awaited sequel to the hit film ‘The Best Man’ – wow critics and audiences alike.
Raking in over $30 million for its premiere weekend, the showing at the box office surpassed expectations in a grand way. So much so, apparently, that Universal Studios is already in talk with the film’s director Malcolm D. Lee to write and direct another installment of the hit romantic comedy.
While the negotiations are just “in talks” right now, word has it the follow-up would be expected much sooner than the 14-year gap between parts 1 and 2 of the film. No word on if all members of the cast can be expected for the next installment.
There are multiple ways to “win” and ‘The Best Man Holiday’ is achieving many of them – ironically without hitting #1 on the charts.
Despite being blocked from the top spot by the omnipotent ‘Thor: The Dark World’, the Malcolm D. Lee movie (which hit #2) is this week’s hottest topic after grossing a whopping $30.6 Million in the US during its opening weekend (November 15th-17th).
A major success on the merit of those numbers alone, its blockbuster status is cemented by the fact that it cost just $17 Million to make – meaning that the film almost doubled its production cost immediately.
Qualitatively, the dramedy echoes the message ‘Think Like A Man’ sent to Hollywood big wigs last year year: Black audiences do support Black movies when they’re: a) well written, acted, produced, and promoted and b) aren’t stereotypical re-hashes that reek of blaxploitation.
‘Holiday, which serves as the sequel to 1999’s ‘The Best Man’, reunites the entire cast of the first film which includes Nia Long, Morris Chestnut, Terrence Howard, Regina Hall, and Sanaa Lathan. The narrative of the latest instalment sees the college friends reunite over the Christmas holidays after 15 years apart. As audiences are learning, the crew quickly discover just how easy it is for long-forgotten rivalries and romances to be ignited. {Source}

As reported here, Academy Award winning actress Octavia Spencer is set to lead the NBC reboot of famed 1980s television series ‘Murder, She Wrote’.
While the news was greeted with mixed reviews, one particular naysayer recently made headlines for her disapproval – Angela Lansbury, the show’s original star. Recently speaking to Associated Press, Lansbury revealed:
“I think it’s a mistake to call it Murder, She Wrote,” she’s quoted saying. “I’m sorry that they have to use the title Murder, She Wrote, even though they have access to it and it’s their right,” she added. “I saw [Octavia Spencer] in The Help and thought she was absolutely wonderful, a lovely actress,” Lansbury said. “So I wish her well, but I wish it wasn’t in Murder, She Wrote.”
