The track, released via Island Records, is the premiere offering from the pair’s forthcoming EP and functions as much as a bop as it does an empowering self-love anthem.

Readers of That Grape Juice know what avid music lovers we are – especially of hits past.

So, as our retrospective features ‘From the Vault’ and ‘TGJ Replay’  allow us the chance to re-spin the gems and jams of yesterday of one artist, our newest feature Chart Rewind – a variation of our current Retro Rewind assay – accedes salutes to an entire era of music history.

This week we’ll dial back to 2006’s ‘Ring the Alarm’ – the second single from Beyonce‘s second solo album, ‘B’Day.’

In 2006 (in Youtube’s infancy), one hit wonders Webstar and Young B almost cracked the Hot 100’s top 40 thanks to the viral dance craze associated with their tune, ‘Chicken Noodle Soup.’

Now, thanks to a reboot of sorts courtesy of BTS star j-Hope and singer Becky G, the song is poised to exceed its previous #45 peak.  Borrowing the cut’s chorus for their multilingual edition of ‘Chicken Noodle,’ Hope and G’s version – which features English, Korean, and Spanish lyrics – is a celebration of dance and embracing one’s heritage.  And, if its reign on iTunes and Youtube charts is anything to judge by, that celebration is one that’s resonating in a big way with listeners across the U.S.

After joining forces for 2016’s NBC adaptation of the classic Broadway musical, ‘Hairspray!’ live, Ariana Grande and Kristin Chenoweth reunite – this time for the latter’s sixth studio album, ‘For the Girls.’

Tackling the classic feminist anthem, ‘You Don’t Own Me’ (originally recorded by Lesley Gore in 1963 but re-popularized by the 1996 film ‘The First Wives Club’), Chenoweth and Grande show off their respective vocal prowess and put the boys in check over the string-assisted verses.

One of many gems found aboard Chenoweth’s ‘Girls’ (in stores today), look inside to hear their rendition of the timeless tune:

Just two years after unveiling a whopping 45 songs aboard his 2017 album, ‘Heartbreak on a Full Moon,’ R&B bad boy Chris Brown revealed the effort would be followed by a 32-track project – ‘INDIGO.’

The latter, which is decorated with appearances from the likes of Lil Wayne, Tyga, Trey Songz, Nicki Minaj, Justin Bieber, Tank, H.E.R., G-Eazy, Drake, and many more, may have been released in June, but is still enjoying top 10 success on the Billboard 200 thanks to support it’s receiving on the singer’s Stateside ‘INDIGOAT’ tour (click here for dates).

To ensure that success continues throughout the rest of the year, Brown took to Instagram a month ago to tease intent to lengthen the album to 42 songs (as we reported here).  Now, much to fan confusion and horror delight, he’s making good on his word.

This week 15 years ago, Ciara – 2004’s burgeoning “it girl” in music –  reigned over the Billboard Hot 100 with her inaugural hit, ‘Goodies.’

A reimagining of rapper Petey Pablo‘s signature hit, ‘Freek-a-Leek,’ ‘Goodies’ – which also saw Pablo featured – shared more than just sonic likeness with its ‘Freek’ predecessor, but also boasted the same producer:  Lil Jon.  Yet, while Jon -credited as the father of the Atlanta-inspired musical movement – was the craftsman behind launching a number of the era’s leading Crunk hits, ‘Goodies’ was among the first to enjoy crossover success on Pop charts.

A commercial smash that sat atop the Hot 100 for seven consecutive weeks (making it the longest-running #1 debut single by a female artist since 1977), the 3x Platinum song – despite being her only chart-topper (to date) – would not only launch Ci into an impressive R&B career that continues to thrive today, but would go on to stamp itself as a fan favorite among entries in her prized discography.

Sitting down with our friends at Certified recently, the 33-year-old reflected on ‘Goodies’ and its impact on her career a decade-and-a-half later.  See it inside:

H.E.R. may be renown for her introspective and lovelorn lyrics, but the rising star continues to prove that she’s all sorts of versatile.

Case in point new song ‘Slide.’

The YG assisted jam sees the 22-year-old skew sensual over hard-hitting production.

Due October 11th, the hotly anticipated set serves as her seventh studio album and her first as an independent artist helming her own label (RockSoul). Ahead of its arrival, That Grape Juice caught up with the ‘American Idol’ champion, who spoke candidly on a number hot topics.

She waxed honest about steering her own career while also addressing the much talked about collaboration with Brandy and Jazmine Sullivan. The vocal supernova also revealed she’s eyeing a collaboration with ‘Telephone’ singers Beyonce and Lady Gaga and even addressed Kim Burrell‘s public jab.

The Cheat Codes remix is just what the doctor ordered for ‘South of the Border’ – the star-studded cut found aboard Ed Sheeran‘s latest chart-topping album, ‘No. 6 Collaborations Project.’

Featuring chart-toppers Cardi B and Camila Cabello, the Latin-inspired song – released in July 2019 – has already managed to make a moderate impact on the Billboard Hot 100 on merit alone, boasting a #53 peak as of time reported.  However, the Cheat Codes revamp – with its increased tempo – may be just what’s needed to renew interest in the tune and its parent album (the latter was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America just this week).

Could we soon be seeing the tune hit a new peak?  Listen inside and weigh in:

Nicki Minaj may have unexpectedly announced her retirement weeks ago, but thanks to the amount of work she recorded prior to unveiling the news, fans should expect to see her in headlines for months to come.

The latest comes courtesy of her appearance on DaBaby‘s star-studded sophomore album, ‘Kirk.’  With a tracklist that features the likes of Chance The Rapper, Migos, Lil Baby, Gucci Mane, Kevin Gates, Moneybagg Yo and more, one of the set’s most anticipated offerings remains the Minaj-assisted ‘iPhone.’

After the duo took his ‘Suge’ song to even higher heights, there’s certainly great expectation for what they could do with a completely original cut.  Lifted to DaBaby‘s official Youtube handle just moments ago, listen inside to see if it was worth the wait and the hype:
