Sexyy Red‘s Summer Walker-assisted single, ‘I Might,’ might have been widely ignored at the time of its release earlier this month, but its follow – the March 15-dropped ‘Get It Sexyy‘ – is already proving itself just what the doctor ordered.

Buoyed by a sample of the 2009 Hurricane Chris hit ‘Halle Berry (She’s Fine),’ the Tay Keith-produced jam comes as the femcee’s dancefloor-ready self-affirmation.

“Slim thick, caramel skin / 5’5″, this bi-ch a ten (Yeah) / Hair done, bills paid / Catch me slidin’ in a Benz (Vyoom) / I ain’t lookin’ for no man,” she raps on the chorus.

The tune shot to #1 on the USA’s real-time Apple Music charts just hours after its release, besting the performance of current megahits like GloRilla‘s ‘Yeah Glo,’ Beyonce‘s ‘Texas Hold ‘Em,’ Ariana Grande‘s ‘We Can’t Be Friends,’ Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign‘s ‘Carnival,’ and more.

After one listen, you’ll see why.

TLC tower tall ’til this day as one of the greatest girl groups of all-time. Yet, while the ladies did venture out solo, their efforts were few and far between.

This week’s From The Vault salutes T-Boz’s brief but sweet swing of the bat with her 1996 single ‘Touch Myself.’

Housed on the soundtrack for the movie ‘Fled’ starring Laurence Fishburne and Stephen Baldwin, the racy track was penned and produced by frequent TLC collaborator Dallas Austin.

Continuing to lyrically embrace the group’s gutsy and unapologetic nature, T-Boz turned up the heat with this super direct self-love anthem.

An ode to administering pleasure to “yourself,” the catchy cut was powered by the star’s trademark rasp and hard-hitting 90s R&B production.

Its simple yet effective video was directed by Bille Woodruff and sees T-Boz aptly dance with herself while interspliced clips of the film are showcased.

A top 40 hit, ‘Touch Myself’ peaked at #40 on the Billboard Hot 100. It also hit #23 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop tally and #3 on the Billboard Hot Dance Music count.

Not a smash, but a rare gem. And one that still shines today.
