Ashanti is on a roll.

Fresh from being snapped with Instagram’s next top model Rihanna over the weekend, the R&B belle bumped into former rival Beyonce at the New York Nets game at the Barclay’s Centre last night.

The ‘Only U’ belter was on hand to perform the US National Anthem at the event, which was also attended by Jay-Z (who owns a stake in the venue).

Clearly, based on the pic above, there was no animosity between the ladies – nor should there have been. Yes, they were pit against each other for years, but neither has ever had anything negative to say.

And while one’s contributions to music has far outpaced the other, they both have songs and records that today’s new names could only dream of achieving. More power to them both!

‘Acceptable in the 80s‘ performer Calvin Harris has revealed that he isn’t to appear on Rihanna‘s brand new album this week, doing so during a recent interview with the UK’s ‘The Sun.’

On the project, he revealed:

No I’m not on the Rihanna album. I did a few things for it but they don’t get back to you, there are a lot of people involved.

She listens to everything, I know that, but she’s got a strong idea and identity and an idea of what her album should sound like.

It’s not like they put me on ‘We Found Love’ because I’m signed to [Roc Nation], they did it because it’s a f*****g good song. It’s OK because I’m working on my stuff and it’s going fine.

And it begins.

If there was any doubt about the imminent release of Rihanna‘s eighth studio album, it was dispelled moments ago when the star’s new Elle magazine cover was unveiled.

As has become routine with the melodic model, a new campaign is often paired with an onslaught of magazine covers, a collage of candy coloured wigs, and wild Instagram antics – the latter of which has already begun.

The looming nature of the project, delayed by almost a year, does leave us wondering how Ms. Fenty plans to roll it out. Surely, she can’t be planning a Beyonce-styled ambush? Granted, she has a vast fan-base and is smartly using her creative block to heighten anticipation, she doesn’t possess a universal enough audience to risk such a release. Perhaps for a single, but an album…not so much. After all, each of her LP’s have the uncanny ability to just stop selling around the 1 million mark.

Will she reverse her fortunes this go round? The answer appears to be approaching sooner rather than later.
