Touted as rivals, yet eventually friends, Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston had quite the storied history.

As such, Whitney’s passing ten days ago saw her ‘When You Believe’ collaborator cancel a number of appearances including one on Good Morning America – which she instead honored today.

Much to the horror of Chris Brown nay sayers, the reports of a duet between he and ex girlfriend Rihanna were confirmed last night, with the release of two numbers featuring the pair.

Lending their talents to the other’s respective ‘Turn The Music Up‘ and ‘Birthday Cake’, the stars have come under fire from those against their reunion, following their explosive split back in 2009.

Now, before the negative press they are set to receive, Rihanna’s label Def Jam have reportedly taken a stand against the star.

Blonde bombshells Rihanna and Chris Brown dropped not one, but two bombs on fans when remixes to their two new singles exploded onto the net today.  Possibly baking up a backlash, their joint ventures – ‘Birthday Cake’ and ‘Turn Up the Music‘ – have certainly turned up something.  What, however, has yet to be fully realized.

Sweeping headlines at this very moment, the two have teased their recorded reunions for the past few weeks.  The hype was introduced when Da Internz, co-producers of the sizzling Rihanna interlude, first informed fans the number would be revamped into a full length song and its tapped co-star would “shock the world”.

And, though spectators later put the clues together, many wrote the speculation off as mere ‘publicity stunts’ given the severity of the incident that tore them apart just three years prior.  Said incident also led Brown to a near blacklisting, causing the failure of his ‘Graffiti’ album that same year.

Hollywood power couple Jay Z and Beyonce were snapped in their first public appearance together since birth of baby Blue Ivy over a month ago.  A favorite pasttime of the performers, the duo was seen courtside enjoying a Nets Vs. Knicks game (thanks YBF):

Fans may remember when the ‘Baby Boy’ beauty unveiled her post-baby body at Jay’s triumphant Carnegie Hall two-night show a few weeks ago.  That outing, like this, mark two of many fans should expect to see of the diva in the coming months as she is already back at work preparing two projects for a 2012 release.
