Even divas have awkward moments. In 2005 Mariah Carey was temporarily reunited with her 1st husband and mentor, Tommy Mottola, at a private industry party where she was introduced to his latest wife, Thalia.

Mottola married Thalia in the year 2000, a mere 2 years after the end of his tumultuous marriage to Carey. The music mogul, who once guided the careers of acts such as Celine Dion and Destiny’s Child as the head of Sony Music Entertainment, was accused of sabotaging Carey’s musical endeavours after her departure from the label by copying her songs and giving the products to Jennifer Lopez.

Dance/Pop artists aren’t the only people planning to release new material in 2011. Monica revealed that she intends to drop a new album as well. The R&B singer’s 7th studio collection, ‘New Life’, will hit stores in the summer, featuring contributions from Bryan-Michael Cox and Oak among others.

‘New Life’ will be the 1st of 2 albums Monica plans to release in 2011 as she intends to put forward a Christmas album at the end of the year.

Great performance! Powerful, emotive, and controlled, Brian importantly made the song his own – opting not to simply rehash the adlibs and isms present on the song or in Whitney’s live renditions of it. Usher has long been heralded as one of music’s most celebrated artists. Ranked as the 2^nd most successful act of the last decade on the Billboard charts, he managed to give R&B music a voice amidst the expanding sea of Hip-Hop and Pop artists who began to dominate radio stations in recent years.

Nonetheless,  it seems that the tide of change has finally gotten too powerful for even Usher to resist as he prepares to reinvent his sound with the launch of a new genre he calls “Revolutionary Pop”. This decision has left many of his loyal fans baffled as they wonder if he is truly being innovative or simply joining the Pop music bandwagon in an effort to remain relevant.
