Christina Aguilera has been absent from the music scene for almost 4 years, with her last release being 2006’s ‘Back to Basics’. Now the vocal powerhouse has returned with her new album, ‘Bionic’, equipped with new sounds, thanks to a diverse assembly of some of the industry’s most sought-after producers and songwriters. However, despite the claims by her critics that the LP represents her attempt to emulate Pop sensation Lady GaGa, the record actually showcases a wide variety of musical styles that bear little similarity to her chart counterpart. In fact, on ‘Bionic’, Aguilera finds herself imitating almost everyone except GaGa.

Our mailbox just received this fan review of Rihanna‘s ‘Last Girl On Earth Tour’ stop in Antwerp, Belgium on Friday (thanks Frederic). Don’t shoot the messenger…
Okay, so Tinchy Stryder was NOT the supporting act (some random DJ was). It’s sad how someone loves to make this kinda stuff up.
I’m going to tell you already, I was properly disappointed:
VOCALS
Her vocals weren’t as bad as I expected them to be, but she clearly omitted the difficult parts and even forgot some of the lyrics. I could even notice a backing track during some of the songs (Don’t Stop The Music for example). Also, they ruined some songs by using rockier versions of it (Rude Boy and S.O.S. especially).
SHOW AND SPECIAL EFFECTS
I couldn’t almost believe it, but the choreography (if any) was really poor. There were only a couple of dancers, which didn’t impress me. Rihanna barely danced herself as well…They used a car for the Shut Up & Drive/Fire Bomb performances and some huge monsters for Disturbia but honestly, it’s not that creative and it’s been used a million times already. I did like her dancing in the cage during Don’t Stop The Music though.
OUTFITS
I don’t know whether this is really her style, but the outfits look like she’s just picked them from Lady Gaga’s wardrobe. My friend, a HUGE Rihanna fan even said so.INTERACTION
Same old story, “Hi Antwerp, are you having fun? I’m having a blast” etc etc. Funny thing is, it seemed to me she didn’t like being on stage at all. She came across rather moody and barely smiled.I hate giving negative reviews but I couldn’t help but feel disappointed. Now that I’ve seen her live, I’m starting to doubt her talent as an artist.
The success of the Kelly Rowland-assisted ‘When Love Takes Over’ has seen French DJ, David Guetta, become one of the most sought-after producers in the industry. Indeed, your favourite model and mine, Rihanna, has tapped the hitmaker to produce tracks for her forthcoming 5th LP (due later this year).
While interviewing on a French radio station earlier today, Guetta gave an impromptu preview of a completed track he and the aspiring singer cooked up. Wanna hear it? Check it out below….
Check out this short preview of Janet Jackson‘s video for ‘Nothing’ – the lead single from the soundtrack of ‘Why Did I Get Married Too’. Directed by Tim Palen, the video in its full-form premières tomorrow (April 1st).
Judging by this clip….as much as I support Janet…this is not the business. Still, I’ll reserve full judgement until seeing the video in its entirety.
Peep this short clip of Kelis‘ video for new single ‘Acapella’, which premières in its entirety on March 29th (next Monday). Check out the vid after the jump….
