AMC’s eagerly anticipated new show, ’61st Street,’ is premiering in the UK tonight (29 March).

Emmy Award winner Courtney B. Vance, British force Tosin Cole, and Oscar nominee Aunjanue Ellis star in the gripping drama – which is executive co-produced by Michael B. Jordan by way of his Outlier Society imprint.

The series, which was created by BAFTA-winner Peter Moffat, unravels the infamous Chicago criminal justice system and chronicles the police and prosecutor investigation of a deadly drug bust that runs the risk of unravelling the cop code of silence.

Set to premiere tonight (29 March) on AMC (BT TV Channel 332 and in HD on Channel 381), ’61st Street’ – which has already won the Audience Award at SXSW – is all sorts of a must-see.

It’s award season and the latest ceremony to assemble Hollywood’s biggest names was the 27th Annual Critics Choice Awards. 

Saluting excellence in the realms of film and television, the show took place at The Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles.

The evening saw the likes of Will Smith honored with Best Actor trophy for his performance as Richard Williams – the father of Venus & Serena Williams – in the Warner Bros biopic, ‘King Richard.’

During his impassioned acceptance speech, the superstar thanked The Williams’ for entrusting him with their story. Smith also paid homage to his co-star Aunjanue Ellis, who shone as the family’s matriarch Oracene.

Keyshia Cole may have worked her dedicated fans into a frenzy of disappointment when she first announced intent to retire from music (as we reported here), but – much to their chagrin – the GRAMMY nominee hasn’t changed her tune a year later.

Helping TV One kick off the latest season of its compelling, autobiographical series ‘Uncensored’ (March 6), Cole dished on a number of deeply personal topics including her rise to fame, the emotional toll of the death of her birth parents, and so much more.

However, it was the reiteration of plans to permanently hang up her mic that really got fans talking.
