It’s just a good week to be The Weeknd.

The same day the Grammy winner unleashed his highly anticipated fourth studio album, ‘After Hours’ (March 20), he learned its two lead singles – ‘Heartless’ and ‘Blinding Lights’ – had been certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), denoting over 1 million in sales equivalence respectively (as we reported here).

Released via XO/Republic, the set made Apple Music history by surpassing over a million pre-adds on the service by the time of its release.  Going on to dominate the digital platform’s real-time charts, ‘Hours’ also commanded a number of positions on other digital tallies like iTunes, Amazon, and Spotify. His grip over the latter was so notable, the streaming giants took to social media to congratulate him on news the LP had zoomed past the 1 billion spins mark.

While the music industry as a whole has reported a notable reduction in streaming as a result of the coronavirus pandemic’s enduring impact (click here to read), some of its acts are boasting the opposite.

Many U.S. cities – in an effort to reduce spread of the disease and encourage social distancing – have mandated their residents not only limit leaving their houses to “essential travel” (like grocery shopping and doctor’s), but also work from home when able.

The increase in companies participating in the trend oddly spiked renewed interest in the now defunct fivesome Fifth Harmony‘s 2016 hit, ‘Work From Home’ (found aboard their last album as a quintet, ‘7/27’).

Tory Lanez is no stranger to making headlines for delivering his fair share of hits, but in the past most of them have been limited to the Hot 100.

Recently, as revealed by a viral video, the ‘Say It’ performer thought to take a more physical approach.  Reaching out to touch rising R&B singer Joshua Benoit in a filmed barbershop scuffle Tuesday (March 24), Lanez apparently wanted to dish out fades of a different nature than what spectators were on hand for.
