Bishop Charles H. Ellis III has apologised to those who feel touched Ariana Grande unknowingly as he led Aretha Franklin’s funeral service.

Grande honoured the home-going event with song and was invited to speak to Ellis about her feelings towards the late icon.

There, an awkward moment ensued.

With all eyes on the homegoing celebration of Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin (click here to watch), Empress of Soul Gladys Knight gave fans a scare when she revealed she and the late icon “had the same disease.”

Offering little more clarification, reports like the one found here immediately began flooding the net with news the 74-year-old was suffering from pancreatic cancer – the disease that claimed the life of Franklin.

Now, with the help of her rep Jay Schwartz, Knight is providing context to her statement and assuring her longtime music lovers that she does not have cancer.  Read her statement inside:

Aretha Franklin‘s family called on a group of her closest friends and collaborators to celebrate her life today, enlisting them to grace her funeral with soul and song in Detroit.

The star passed away earlier this month and is survived by fans, friends and relatives who have joined forces to bid her adieu with a service which is being streamed live from church and will see her honoured by those who know her best.

In attendance? Whoopi Goldberg, Ariana Grande, Hilary Clinton & many more.

Pop queen Janet Jackson was all smiles at the The Woodruff Arts Center’s Symphony Hall in Atlanta on Thursday night (August 30th) as she was crowned BMI Icon at the 2018 BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards.

As we reported here, the honor – which was announced just a month after she took home the prestigious Billboard Music Award icon trophy – was bestowed upon Jackson for decades of enduring contributions to the Urban music platform as a songwriter and producer.  This after Teyana Taylor, H.E.R., Jussie Smollett, and Normani delivered stunning tribute performances of some of her biggest hits.

After more than 20 years in the game, Eminem proves he still has the shock factor.

For, moments ago the Hip-Hip titan unleashed his 10th studio album – ‘Kamikaze.’

Released without any pre-warning, the Interscope set reunites Em with longtime collaborator Dr Dre who serves alongside him as executive producer of the 13-song collection.

Uniquely, the project arrives less than a year after the rapper dropped his 9th offering ‘Revival’ – which topped charts upon its debut in December, but wasn’t received well by critics. In a short, but telling tweet, the star heavily alludes to this album righting those wrongs.
