Kendrick Lamar has had a hell of a year.
When seeing his latest album, ‘Damn,’ top the Billboard 200 with some of the year’s highest first week sales, the rapper is cranking out jaw-dropping videos (and live performances to match), collecting awards across the industry, and so much more. As if that’s not enough, the year also granted his first #1 on the Hot 100 as a leading act thanks to ‘Humble’ (second overall in his career to his feature on Taylor Swift‘s ‘Bad Blood’).
The Mike Will Made It produced cut, which debuted on charts in April, not only topped the tally but spent its first 15 weeks in the top 10 before beginning its descent in August. In fact, some 7 months later ‘Humble’ remains in the top 40 (as this week’s refreshed Hot 100 reveals).
The success of the tune has also helped it to a place in history books thanks to refreshed reports of sales data. Just three months after being certified double platinum by the RIAA for its digital sales and streaming performance, this week brought with it news the chart-topping hit has become the first rap song of 2017 to exceed 1 million in pure sales. Add to this, with streaming factored in, the song is now eligible for triple platinum status!
As we extend a hearty congratz to the rapper, tuck in below to see who joins him in the top 40 on this week’s refreshed “Chart Check”:
