In the wake of advances from the likes of Chainsmoker‘s ‘Something Just Like This,’ Bruno Mars’That’s What I Like,’ Rihanna‘s ‘Love on the Brain,’ and even impressive staying power by former #1 ‘Bad & Boujee’ by Migos, singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran‘s ‘Shape of You’ has managed to pencil its name atop the Hot 100 yet again.

Thanks to some handsome digital sales, undoubtedly boosted by a whirlwind promotional schedule that’s seen him hit the Grammys, ‘SNL,’ ‘iHeart Radio Music Awards,’ Brit Awards, and the American talk show circuit in less than three weeks, Sheeran’s ‘Shape’ signs on to the tally’s perch for a sixth non-consecutive week.  And, as we reported here, the set’s highly anticipated parent album – ‘Divide’– is set to follow suit with a rule over next week’s Billboard 200 (click here to read more about that).

Interestingly, though hitting many of the same outlets and award shows to promote her latest number, ‘Chained to the Rhythm,’ pop star Katy Perry‘s most recent Hot 100 run is not singing a similar tune.  Even with its notable #4 premiere on the tally two weeks ago (to some of her lowest recent debut figures), Perry’s Sia-penned socially conscious hit has been on the decline despite the release of its supporting visual.

Falling out of the top 10 in just its third week, tuck in below to see who joins Sheeran and the ‘Roar’ singer on this week’s updated Chart Check:

Success tastes sweet, especially when one has hustled for it in a very personal way.

Just ask Beyonce.

Last year’s ‘Lemonade’ was almost unanimously christened “the” definitive music moment of the year, thanks to its compelling lyrics, imagery, and artistry.

Now, it’s emerged that – beyond being the creative force behind the visual LP – Queen Bey was also the financier for the project too.

It’s safe to say P!nk and Justin Timberlake have earned their spots as two of modern Pop’s leading acts.

The powerful pair have sold over 45 million records each over the span of their solo careers. And now, that number will increase as they lock-in 2017 for their perspective album releases.

Much like our ‘Retro Rewind’ and ‘From the Vault’ segments, readers of That Grape Juice know what avid music lovers we are – especially of hits past.  So, in a quest to re-spin the gems and jams of yesterday we introduced the retrospective segment ‘TGJ Replay’.Unlike its ‘Rewind’ and ‘Vault’ predecessors, ‘Replay’ looks to dust off and showcase albums (and eras) from a library of pop music hits.

Today, it’s all about ‘All I Have’ – the critically acclaimed debut album of R&B chanteuse Amerie:

John Legend‘s latest album, ‘Darkness & Light,’ may have been a hit with critics, but unfortunately the same can’t be said with consumers.  Debuting at #14 in late 2016 (his lowest first week placement to date), the project – featuring the top 40 hit ‘Love Me Now’ – wasn’t exactly getting much love from record buyers, a feat evidenced by its quick drop out of the Billboard 200’s top 100.

Hoping to turn the tide, the singer/songwriter has announced a spring/summer tour itinerary in support of the opus.  Christened ‘The Darkness & Light’ tour, the North American trek is set to touch every corner of the U.S. with stops in New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Miami, Phoenix, and multiple stops in between before it wraps on June 30 at the Essence Festival in New Orleans.

Mahershala Ali (above) and the cast of the hit movie ‘Moonlight’ were honoured at last night’s Golden Globe Awards when the project was presented with the Best Drama trophy.

Only right then, as the movie continues to rock theatres nationwide, that its cast and crew celebrate their win by speaking to press at the ceremony about the project.

Alas, their time with media outlets saw them quizzed on Kim Burrell’s slamming of the LGBT community  and how it may have affected Janelle Monae who stars in ‘Moonlight’ as well as ‘Hidden Figures’, the movie Burrell recorded music for.

How they responded?
