Six-time GRAMMY® nominee and box office star Tyrese Gibson joined forces with three-time GRAMMY® winner CeeLo Green to use music as a mean to deliver an address to racial disparity and police brutality in America.

Titled ‘Legendary,’ the gripping tune saw its accompanying Deon Taylor-directed music video premiere August 28.

Clocking in just at 8:46, the clip’s runtime is the exact amount of time a white Minneapolis police officer used his knee to pin the neck of African American local George Floyd to the ground (causing his death as a result).

Speaking on the socially conscious effort, Tyrese stated:

“Legendary is powerful because the music and the video are meant to shift how we are seen. We’re in the middle of a revolution. As Black people we are fighting two pandemics: COVID-19 and Systemic Racism. The video painfully underscores the plight of our community, while asserting that Black Lives Matter. As for the music? The proudest moment of my life is when attorney Benjamin Crump said ‘Legendary’ is the new anthem of the movement.”

The star’s diagnosis was not known to the public and, as Coogler reveals, his collaborators were none-the-wiser too.

Echoing sentiments shared by Spike Lee (who directed Boseman in recent film ‘Da 5 Bloods’), Coogler shared that not only did he not know the specifics of the icon’s illness, he had actually been deep in the writing process for ‘Black Panther 2.’ A film in which 43-year-old Boseman was set to reprise the title role (T’Challa).
