Whether a longtime reader of That Grape Juice or a newcomer, it’s all sorts of clear that we’re enamored with the multitude of women that – for us – have long been the central engines of the music industry.

As such, we’ve been celebrating Women’s History Month for the length and breadth of March.

And not just the female titans behind some of the world’s most successful songs, but women more broadly.

For, they are truly the backbone of society. From mothers and sisters to aunts and grandmothers, they are the ones who anchor so many of us.

In toasting the reason for the season, TGJ’s Sam, Rashad, and Ryan have compiled a tally of our top female empowerment anthems.

Jordan Peele has lifted the lid on ‘Nope’ and looks to be another big-screen juggernaut.

Billed as a horror epic, the film reunites the Oscar-winning force behind ‘Get Out’ and ‘Us’ with Daniel Kaluuya who leads alongside Keke Palmer.

The pair take on the role of residents in a lonely gulch of inland California who bear witness to an uncanny and chilling discovery.

Hotly anticipated, the trailer for the film – which also co-stars Michael Wincott and Brandon Perea – has been unleashed.

Join us as we celebrate a major musical anniversary. Today’s From The Vault pick is the first single from an album that turned 20 years old this weekend.

It’s Usher‘s ‘U Remind Me’ from the iconic ’8701.’

Issued as the lead offering from the entertainer’s third studio effort, ‘Remind Me’ finds Ush unable to shake off how much a new girl is reminiscent of an ex-girlfriend, hence his inability to date her.

The track was penned by Anita McCloud and Edmund Clement; it was produced by the latter alongside Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis.

A US smash, the song hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. It also fared well worldwide, reaching the Top 5 in the UK, France, Australia, and Canada. Furthermore, it earned Usher his very first GRAMMY in 2002.

The ever-enduring force that is Dave Meyers directed the song’s visual which presented Usher serenading several girls around before ending up at a club with his girlfriend-at-the-time, Chilli from TLC.

Who could forget that iconic solo dance sequence that proved once and for all that Mr. Raymond doesn’t need to rely on a troop of dancers to bring the house down.

20 years on, this single (and its parent album) still bang and remain radio, club, and bedroom fixtures.

Speaking on ‘8701’ just this week, ‘Usher said: “this album defined me.” And we agree in earnest.

Truly, the era at large set him apart from the other male R&B artists thanks to its powerful storytelling, memorable melodies, slick production, exciting music videos, and a killer accompanying tour.

Two decades later, it’s fantastic seeing him perform these very songs with the same gusto and precision as when he presented them to the world for the first time.

Salute to Usher for 20+ years of embodying excellence.

First found on the deluxe edition of Em’s latest #1 album, ‘Music to Be Murdered By’ (click here to stream), the song’s been reloaded with new verses from Jack Harlow and Cordae.

“They say my killin’s horrendous, “How he still in the business?” / Rich as hell and it’s feelin’ tremendous / chillin’ in Venice, compliments of an elders cynic . Give hell with these writtens, this shit only propel my ascension / I held my position in any situation that’s needed,” the latter spits on the fiery track.

With his latest music video, ‘Spiral,’ machete-wielding emcee 21 Savage proves a mic isn’t the only thing he knows how to rock.

Serving the title track for the soundtrack to the forthcoming horror film, ‘Spiral: From The Book Of Saw’ (starring Chris Rock, Samuel L. Jackson, and more), the rapper delivers an equally chilling music video filled with blood, gore, and – when not swinging upside down in a straitjacket – some seriously gruesome activity.
