Today we reach back to 2009; a time when two of Pop’s brightest stars linked up for a colossal collaboration.

It’s Ciara and Justin Timberlake’s ‘Love Sex Magic.’

After many false starts – namely ‘Never Ever’ and ‘Go Girl’ – CiCi enlisted then label-mate Timberlake for the launching single of her third album ‘Fantasy Ride.’

‘Magic’ was penned and produced by JT alongside his production team The Y’s and Mike Elizondo.

It marked the diva’s return to the Top 10 after a string of so-so performing singles. The collaboration peaked at #10 in the US, #6 in Canada and #5 in both the UK and Australia.

Diane Martel was selected to bring the lyrics to the song to reality. Ciara and Justin can be seen frolicing in a burlesque-inspired setting. Although they display undeniable chemistry, their steamy scenes were met with mixed reactions with some people finding Mr. Timberlake’s attitude throughout the vid was demeaning towards Ms. Harris. Others lapped it up.

Different strokes for different folks, they say…

In any case, the clip was nominated for the Best Choreography VMA in 2009 but lost to Beyoncé’s ‘Single Ladies.’

We love ourselves some Urban Ci but we’d be lying if we said we didn’t miss our Pop-leaning Ciara too.

Hopefully her next effort sees her balance both worlds in the best way with songs akin to  ‘Body Party’ and ‘Ride’ on one side, and ‘Love Sex Magic’, ‘Livin’ It Up’ and ‘Dance Like We’re Making Love’ on the other.

CiCi, we’re ready when you are!

The entertainment personality Memphitz finds himself on the receiving end of criticism this morning after he accused the singer K. Michelle of ruining his life.

Once a thriving entertainment personality, the character has seen his career hit rock bottom after Michelle stepped forward to ask her cast-mates for help during her first season of the hit show ‘Love & Hip Hop Atlanta.’

What she needed help with? Protecting her child and rebuilding her life after both were threatened by Memphitz‘ allegedly violent abuse.

For years, the singer was accused of fabricating the tale and faced verbal abuse from her alleged attacker’s famous friends on camera as they sought to force her to retract her story.

Unfortunately for him, his decision to join the show ‘Marriage Boot Camp’ with his then-wife Toya Wright placed the final nail in his career’s coffin when it became clear that K’s story may not have been a tall-tale after all.

Welcome to Retro Rewind, the TGJ original feature launched to honour celebrate TV and Film’s brilliant, and occasionally informative, past.

As he celebrates the success of his new project ‘American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace‘, Ryan Murphy still finds himself loved and lauded for the brilliance that is his ‘American Horror Story‘ anthology series.

Last week we made down to New Orleans to revisit his ‘Coven’ creation. Today, we take a cold, dark and grim journey to North Carolina.

Waiting for us there? ‘Roanoke’…starring Angela Bassett, Adina Porter, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Evan Peters and Lady GaGa.

This ‘American Horror Story’ draws from the suspicious real-life disappearance of the colonists who settled in the land during the Anglo-Spanish war to tell a tale of betrayal, murder, witchcraft and the supernatural.

Sounds wild right?

Mariah Carey is back in music mode.

And while it may seem like she never left (after all, her legendary status is undeniable), her dalliances with reality TV and other questionable ventures had taken Mimi away from the mic in recent years.
