Nearly 8 years separate fans of Eric Benét from a new body of work, but the wait for the follow-up to his 2016 eponymous album came to a close on Friday (August 23) with the release of the ‘Duets‘ EP.

A star-studded affair featuring contributions from fellow music veterans Chante Moore, Tamar Braxton, Ledisi, LaTocha Scott, and Corinne Bailey-Rae, the 5-song project was preceded to Billboard 200 battle by the Braxton-assisted single ‘Something We Can Make Love To‘ (released in June).

Tiding fans over until Benet puts the final touches on his next studio effort, some songs from ‘Duets’ will get the live treatment when the 4x GRAMMY nominee kicks off in September with stops slated for St. Louis, Philadelphia, Nashville, Boston, and more.

Drake is full of surprises.

And the rapper is continuing along the unique trajectory of sharing them.

Because moments ago, the superstar dropped three more new songs via the same mystery Instagram account that he shared fresh material via earlier this month.

This go round it’s Playboi Carti collaboration ‘No Face,’ ‘SOD,’ and ‘Circadian Rhythm.’

The trio of tracks follow ‘It’s Up (ft. 21 Savage & Young Thug)’, ‘Housekeeping Knows’ with Latto, and ‘Blue Green Red’ – all of which charted on the Billboard Hot 100 this week.

‘The Supremes Earl’s at All You Can Eat’ unites a stellar cast for a compelling story.

Based on the best-selling novel of the same name, the Tina Mabry-directed film is anchored by Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Sanaa Lathan, and Uzo Aduba. 

Also starring are Mekhi Phifer, Julian McMahon, Vondie Curtis-Hall, Russell Hornsby, Kyanna Simone, Tati Gabrielle, and Abigail Achiri.

The film follows a group of lifelong best friends Odette (Ellis-Taylor), Barbara Jean (Lathan), and Clarice (Aduba) playfully known as “The Supremes.” They share an impenetrable bond of sisterhood; one anchored in their shared decades of navigating the highs and lows of life. Yet, the peaks and troughs continue with fresh challenges, hurdles, hardships, and health turns. All of which test the trio like never before.

That Grape Juice‘s Precious Okungbowa caught up with the cast, who opened up about their roles and the broader impact of the warming stories at the heart of ‘The Supremes Earl’s at All You Can Eat.

Maxwell brought his legendary brand of butter-smooth R&B to NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert series today (August 23).

Backed by a full band, the veteran showed up and showed out with a soul-infused set comprised of some of his biggest hits.

Taking place ahead of The Serenade Tour, which sets sail on September 14, the performance featured rousing renditions of ‘Pretty Wings,’ ‘Ascension,’ ‘Bad Habits,’ ‘Simply Beautiful,’ and ‘Sumthin’ Sumthin.”
